    w00t for Networking

    2009 - 03.05

So yeah, my Dad’s having me import all of his old CD’s into iTunes on his laptop. While doing this I noticed something in the sidebar of iTunes.

Almost like magic, a section called “SHARED” appeared. And in that section it said “Ryan’s Library.”

I opened it and there was my library! All 1,300+ of my songs ready to be listened too. I forgot I had enabled sharing in iTunes for my Library. So, I authorized his laptop on my iTunes account and finally watched those Nightwish videos I purchased that refuse to play on my computer.

Until I moved back into my parents house, I haven’t had a need to network anything. No matter where I was, there was only one computer. Now I have two plus the Playstation 3.

As I check out all this new territory for myself, our network just keeps expanding. So far I’ve got my PC set up as a Media Server for all of my mp3’s that my Playstation can use. And now me and my Dad’s laptop are sharing both libraries, which puts us at a collective 3,000+ songs.

Next comes Sharing his printer. Cuz I actually don’t have one.

After that I gotta find other useless things to do with the network.

Rest In Peace: The Blue Note

    2009 - 02.05
Well… hate to say it… but The Blue Note on West Eighth street is officially closing.

For those who don’t know, The Blue Note is a venue where local and mainstream bands can play their music. The Blue Note was, by far, the nicest venue in Cincinnati and was one of my favorite places to play at. It always had a great atmosphere and great bands.

In addition to having played there myself on a number of occasions, several mainstream bands have also played there. I, personally, got the chance to see Sick Puppies play there and it was a great show.

The owner of the Blue Note was given an offer for the place, and took it. The new owners are also the owners of Strasse Haus.

The Blue Note will be sold and renamed… so here’s hoping the new owners don’t change a thing and continue to put on great shows.
