Recently I was browsing the MyBB Community Forums cuz I was just overall bored, and posted this post in regards to Default Themes for Message Board Software. It’s already received two posts in reply about how it’s the truth and there was this post from “atomicj” asking me to tell the world.
Well, here ya go atomicj, this is me telling the world.
Stop using a theme that 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 other people use! You are not supposed to like the default theme of any software. Therefor, it is not original and downright stupid to install MyBB and put a vBulletin clone theme over top of it. (I hope the LiteBulletin Developers are listening…)
A few years back I wrote a very good article about creating a good theme for your forums. You may follow the link below to read it and for god’s sake. Take my advice.
In conclusion, I can tell you that if I come across a MyBB that uses the vBulletin Default as it’s theme, I close the window immediately. The same applies to any forum running any software. For fucks sake add some originality to your forums people! You’re supposed to be Webmasters. At least fucking study the field before diving headlong into it.
Rant over, tune in next week when I rant about idiots who get pissed off when their brand new site doesn’t have a zillion users the week after it’s open.
